SMS Etiquette #1

For a person like me who doesn't particularly enjoy talking on the phone, text messaging is  a great alternative to getting one's message/question across in a quick, concise manner.  However, as with composing a letter, a thank you note, an email or an invitation; certain etiquette should be adhered.  Unlike letters, notes or things you literally have to mail, texts  are instant gratification of getting your messages delivered.  It can be intrusive or disruptive if one is sent at any hour of the day. For instance someone sent me a text at 4:30 am on Easter morning.  Yes!--do get excited about the Resurrection, just please be considerate of others who would most likely be sleeping at 4:30 am.

Text Messaging Etiquette

#1  Do not text someone during pre-dawn hours unless

      a.  You know for a certainty that the person is AWAKE

      b.  It is an EMERGENCY
